چکیده

Since the description of paper electrophoresis in 1950 by Cremer and Tiselius and by Durrum among others, considerable interest has been shown in this cheap and relatively quick method of separating the various protein fractions. The serum proteins move through the fine cellulose mesh of the paper under the influence of an electric current, the separation of the various fractions being brought about by differences in their electrophoretic mobility at a selected pH. The bands are then shown up by staining with a protein dye. Usually five separate fractions are seen: albumin and four globulin fractions, designated Oal, X2, f and y (Fig. 1). The

Effect of water salinity on total protein and electrophoretic pattern of serum proteins of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella

In this study the effects of water salinity on serum total protein and its components in grass carp were investigated. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of salinity tolerance of fish on total serum protein level and its components as an indicator of liver and kidney activity. One hundred and twenty grass carp were divided into four groups, randomly. The first three groups were r...

Identification of excretory-secretory products from larval stages of Ostertagia circumcincta cultured in vitro by SDS-PAGE and immunoblotting

Exsheathing fluid (EF) and excretory-secretory products (ES) of infective third-stage cultured larvae ofOstertagia circumcincta were analysed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDSPAGE). Five and seven predominant proteins were found in the EF and ES products, respectively. Immunoblotting by sheep pre-infection serum did not react with any of the EF and ES proteins, b...

Serum protein fractions from children of differing nutritional status analysed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and electroimmunoassay.

1. The nutritional status of children showing no clinical signs of malnutrition, from the University School of Khon Kaen, Khon Kaen province, north-east Thailand and from two villages nearby, was tested. The children were grouped according to their body-weight expressed as a percentage of expected weight-for-height (Harvard standards (Stuart & Stevenson, 1959), as given by Jelliffe (1966)). 2. ...
